AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
Formed in 2013 the Blues opened their premiership account in their very first season when they overcame Yeronga South Brisbane by 2 points in the grand final of the South East Queensland AFL's Division One competition. Since 2014 Coorparoo has competed at the top level of the game in Queensland, the Queensland Women's Australian Football League, where they have stamped themselves as arguably the supreme force in the competition. Indeed only once - in 2016 - have they failed to qualify for the season's premiership deciding match. In 2014 they scored a 7.8 (50) to 2.5 (17) grand final defeat of Zillmere Eagles. A year later they again went top, downing Coolangatta Tweed Heads on grand final day by 7 goals, 12.5 (77) to 5.5 (35). The 2017 and 2018 seasons both brought grand final reversals, at the hands of Yeronga South Brisbane in the former year and Wilston Grange in the latter.
In 2018 Coorparoo fielded a team in Division One of the Queensland Women's Football Association. This team performed well to reach the grand final in which they went down fighting by just a couple of points against Aspley Hornets.
